Bell Pepper Spacing
Planting your veggies in rows makes it easier to weed your garden and harvest the peppers when they re.
Bell pepper spacing. Provide a sandy loam soil that drains well and contains plenty of organic matter. Since we re in a raised garden bed though and we don t need row spacing you just get rid of that number. Otherwise the stems may become susceptible to rot.
We prefer to be on the safe side to maximize our pepper yields. Commercially pepper plants are spaced 12 18 inches apart. Peppers can double as ornamentals so tuck some into flowerbeds and borders.
Then you can transplant the bell pepper plants into your garden. Green peppers need plenty of air circulation which means adequate space is. We recommend spacing bell peppers at 18 inches 46 cm between plants.
If you are planting bell pepper plants they need to be 18 to 24 inches away from each other. Plant the transplants no deeper than they were already. Though the plants are usually slim the root systems can be extensive requiring a bit of extra space.
The spacing of 18 inches is perfect if you are using a traditional gardening method and need to till between the rows. Now consider the plant spacing on the back of a seed packet of bell pepper. Then you would have a row in between it for you to typically walk down.
Distance between the plants. If you re aiming for smaller chili pepper plants then the spacing requirement is half. Space the plants 18 inches apart or more depending on the variety you are growing.
