Do We Know More About Space Or The Ocean
Space is infinite and there s no possible way we know as much about it right.
Do we know more about space or the ocean. The water pressure weighs the equivalent to 50 jumbo jets according to nasa oceanographer gene feldman. Our knowledge of the ocean when compared to our knowledge of the space we know and can explore is shockingly thin. But don t click away yet because that doesn t really get to the point at hand.
No one has been there yet but we do know it s easier to send a person to space than it is to send them that many leagues below the ocean s surface. There were no satellites studying the oceans. Considering that we don t know how big space is or even if there s just one universe we can say with reasonable certainty that we probably know more about the ocean than we do about the cosmos.
Although many scientists do believe that there s much more of the universe to explore comparing 13 billion lightyears to the ocean only being seven miles deep underscores how much technology has developed for space exploration rather than ocean exploration. For example wouldn t it be amazing to find out if life is out there versus we are overfishing so how will we feed 9 billion people by 2050. Do we know more about space or the ocean.
Ocean stories are more mundane. Part of this could also be attributed to history. We only know a tiny bit about earth s vast oceans.
Well the answer might surprise you. We know very very little about most of the ocean.
