Epidural Space Spine
Epidural space spine. The epidural space runs the length of the spine. The epidural space is the area between the dura mater a membrane and the vertebral wall containing fat and small blood vessels. Epidural steroid injections are delivered to the epidural space in order to deliver analgesics to the immediate site of pain.
The other two spaces are in the spinal cord itself. The space is located just outside the dural sac which surrounds the nerve roots and is filled with cerebrospinal fluid. The spinal epidural space is located in the spinal canal between the spinal dura mater and the vertebral column and extends from the foramen magnum to the sacral hiatus.
