Hard Space In Word
You can check that ctrl shift space is properly assigned by going to the office button word options customize tab and clicking on the keyboard shortcuts customize button.
Hard space in word. Select the settings button in the spelling and grammar section. Click on the special characters tab. In ms word you can insert a hard space using ctrl shift spacebar keys.
Place your cursor where the nonbreaking space should be inserted. In the dialog that appears scroll down the left hand list and select common symbols then scroll down the right hand list and select nonbreaking space. See figure 1 highlight the nonbreaking space character.
Word does offer this feature but it calls them nonbreaking spaces. For example say you re using a 12 point font for the text in your paragraph. Display the symbol dialog box by choosing symbol from the insert menu.
Find and replace remaining hard returns using the more special from the find and replace dialog box. If the key combination slips your mind choose insert symbol click the special characters tab and look for the nonbreaking space item. Close the dialog box by clicking on cancel.
In some formats including html it also prevents consecutive whitespace characters from collapsing into a single space. If you choose single line spacing the space between lines will be 12 points. Launch the replace command.
Non breaking space characters with other widths also exist. This option flags extra spaces between words not between sentences. It comes useful in situations where at the end of the line a space is required without breaking the line.
