Perirenal Space

Perirenal space. Common sources of perirenal metastatic disease include melanoma lung breast renal cell or transitional cell carci noma 189 259 fig. Although many researchers have studied through different methods the superior communications among these spaces there are still controversies.

Identification of their specific localization may be very important in the clinical diagnosis and in determining the most appropriate therapy. Organs are retroperitoneal if they have peritoneum on their anterior side only. The retroperitoneal space retroperitoneum is the anatomical space sometimes a potential space in the abdominal cavity behind retro the peritoneum.

The perirenal spaces communicate with one another at the level of the lower lumbar vertebrae. The perirenal space has the shape of an inverted cone and contains the kidneys adrenal glands and related vasculature. The left or right kidney may be affected depending on whether the inflammatory fluid tracks from the tail or the head and neck of the pancreas respectively 6.
