Plant Spacing
If you plan on using a rectangular bed layout rather than a traditional row layout use the upper end of each between the plant spacing for your chosen vegetable.
Plant spacing. We will assume spacing of 3 5 m. This spacing chart is not intended to to be used with square foot gardening as this kind of gardening is more intensive. Note that this is the spacing between the centers of the plants so if you plan for your trees to grow leave some extra space for it.
When planting by a tree whose estimated width at maturity is larger the spacing required is the sum of half the width of the smaller plant and half the width of the largest plant. Divide the width of your planting section about 12 inches by the 3 inch seed spacing. Locate the seed spacing number from the back of your seed packet.
We ll use 3 inch seed spacing for this example step 2. Next let s figure out how many seeds to plant.
