Liminal Space

A liminal space is the time between the what was and the next.

Liminal space. It s the middle ground between two grounds the mid structure between two structures. It is characterized by uncertainty because you don t know what s about to come when you cross the threshold into the new space beyond. It is where we are betwixt and between having left one room or stage of life but.

It is a place of transition a season of waiting and not knowing. Imagine an old hotel or a deserted mall now get rid of what little people they already have. A liminal space is hard to describe.

The good news is that if we wait it out and let time. Liminal spaces are transitional or transformative spaces. Liminal space is where all transformation takes place if we learn to wait and let it form us.

This makes it feel frozen and slightly unsettling. What you are left with is an empty carcass of what used to be a buzzing area full of people. But one can learn to tolerate the anxiety and develop the faith that things will take shape.

Liminal space is an in between space. A liminal space is a boundary between two points in time space or both. When you re in a liminal space you re neither here nor there neither this nor that.
